6359 was one of the original Railway Operating Division 2-8-0 locomotives, built by Kitson in August 1918 and numbered as ROD 1625. Transferred to the LNER on 2 February, 1924 as a Class O4/3, the locomotive was renumbered as LNER 6359 and allocated to Gorton, then Sheffield Neepsend, Doncaster and Retford Thrumpton, before being rebuilt as a Class O1 in April/May 1945.
