A ‘Coronation’ Class created in the latter half of the Class’s life, No. 46250 was named after the Staffordshire city rather than a Princess, a Queen, or commemorative event. Indeed, all later ‘Coronation’ Class locomotives from 6235 to 6257 were named in this manner aside from the penultimate ‘Sir William A. Stanier, F.R.S.’. Passing from the LMS to BR, ‘City of Lichfield’ was given ‘Standard Blue’ livery with a black and white lining in May 1950.
